Olympic Gold Medalist And Former OSU Soccer Player Jill Bakken To Speak At Brunch

CORVALLIS, Ore. - The U.S. Bank Women's Athletic Education and Leadership Brunch will be held on the campus of Oregon State University on Saturday, February 22 from 10:00-11:30 a.m. at the Valley Football Center.
Olympic gold medalist and former Oregon State soccer player Jill Bakken will be the keynote speaker at the brunch. Bakken teamed with Vonetta Flowers to win the gold medal in the two-man bobsled competition at the 2002 Winter Olympics, the first time women's bobsledding was included in Olympic competition.
Bakken, who played soccer for the Beavers in 1996, placed in the top eight in all eight World Cup bobsled competitions during the 2001-2002 season. She was a finalist for the Women's Sports Foundation Sportswoman of the Year award in 1998.
OSU women's basketball coach Judy Spoelstra will also be a featured speaker at the brunch, which will be over in time for fans to attend the noon game between OSU and Washington State that same day.
Tickets for the brunch, which is being held in conjunction with National Women and Girls in Sports Day, are $10 for adults and $4 for children (high school and younger) and includes a general admission ticket to the women's basketball game. Seating is limited for the brunch, and tickets can be purchased by calling the Oregon State athletic ticket office at 1-800-GO-BEAVS or in person at the Gill Coliseum ticket office.
