ARIZONA returns to the top spot in the rankings, a place they've been in nine of the 14 ranking periods...Also joining the Wildcats in the Associated Press poll this week are CALIFORNIA and STANFORD, coming in at No. 22 and No. 24...After snapping a nine-game skid, UCLA joins USC in traveling to the desert for key games with the Arizona schools...The Bay Area schools entertain the Washington schools, while OREGON STATE hosts OREGON in the hardwood version of the Civil War.

PAC-10 PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Brian Wethers, California

California senior guard Brian Wethers averaged 18.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 3.5 steals in a road sweep of the Oregon schools. Wethers scored 15 points, including 13 in the second half, with a career-high tying six assists, five rebounds and two steals in a 84-71 win at Oregon State. In the 86-75 win at Oregon, he scored a season-best 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting with five rebounds, five steals and a pair of blocked shots. For the week, he shot 14-of-20 (.700) from the field, including 2-of-4 from three-point range and 6-of-8 from the free throw line.

It is the first weekly award for Wethers, the 31st all-time honor for the Bears.

Pac-10 Notes

ARIZONA - Sophomore center Channing Frye posted his second consecutive double-double with a career-high 24 points and 12 rebounds in the overtime win in Seattle...TheWildcats' weekend sweep in Washington marked the fourth straight year in which the team has accomplished the feat...Sophomore guard Salim Stoudamire's averaging 17.6 points per game in his last three outings. Stoudamire seems to get more accurate with each passing game, as he is shooting 54.6 percent (53-of-97) from the field over his last 10 games, including 51.7 percent (31-of-60) from three-point range...Senior guard Jason Gardner moved past Michael Dickerson (1994-98) into fifth place on the Arizona career points scored list. Through 124 career games, Gardner has tallied 1,809 career points (14.6 ppg). Just ahead of Gardner in fourth place is Damon Stoudamire, who totaled 1,849 points from 1991-95...Senior Luke Walton's 25 points scored this week moved him past 1,000 career points. The majority of Walton's 1,023 career points have come over the last two seasons, as he has averaged 13.4 points in 47 games since the start of his junior season. In that span, he has scored 632 of his 1,023 career points. Incidentally, Walton, Jason Gardner, Damon Stoudamire and Matt Othick are the only players in Arizona history to notch more than 1,000 points and 500 assists in a career.

ARIZONA STATE - Senior forward Shawn Redhage had a career-high 29 points, including 8-of-11 from the floor, and also had career highs in free throws made (11) and attempted (18) in the overtime win at Washington. Redhage now has six double-figure scoring games this year after having three all of last year... ASU opened Pac-10 play with five of its first seven and seven of its first 11 on the road. ASU now plays five of its final seven at home...The Sun Devils had the sixth-best shooting night in school history with a 34-of-52 (.654) performance at Washington State on Feb. 6, including a school-record matching 8-of-11 (.727) from the three-point stripe. The 65.4 percent shooting was the second-best in ASU history in a road contest...ASU's 65.8 scoring defense is the best by an ASU team since the 1983-84 team gave up 65.2 ppg...Senior Tommy Smith needs just 17 points to become the 28th member of the ASU 1,000 point-club...ASU has outrebounded eight of its past nine opponents and is outrebounding its opponents by 8.3 boards per game in that span...ASU's 33-point win at Washington State (87-54) is the school's biggest road win since a 36-point win (91-55) at California on Feb. 3, 1979...ASU has already passed its victory total from last year, as it was 14-15.

CALIFORNIA - With 1,458 points, senior forward Joe Shipp has moved up to seventh on the Cal career scoring list. Shipp has 149 career three-pointers and needs five more to move past former Bear Randy Duck for second on Cal's career list...Thanks in part to a 9-of-16 (.563) three-point shooting performance on the road in Oregon, sophomore forward Amit Tamir has moved to the top of the league's three-point shooters, connecting on 47-of-100 (.470) from outside the arc this season...As a team, the Bears edge Oregon .393 to .389 for the top spot in three-point field goal percentage...Cal is 10-0 in Haas Pavilion this season, and has home court winning streak of 15 games. Over the past two seasons, Cal is 27-1 at home...Through 20 games, the Bears are a perfect 12-0 when they out-rebound their opponent. The Bears have a +4.5 rebound margin in their 16 victories, a -6.7 margin in their four losses.

OREGON - Junior guard Luke Ridnour has made 47 consecutive free throws in Pac-10 games, breaking the streak of 46 set by Stanford's Ryan Mendez during the 2001 season. The streak for all games is 49, also held by Mendez...As a team, Oregon is shooting .766 at the free throw line -- just off the Pac-10 record .769 the Ducks shot last season...Ridnour moved to 15th in UO career scoring (1,174). After playing just two minutes and not scoring in the first half because of foul trouble vs. Stanford, he scored 23 points in the second half. He had no assists for just the third time in his career, and for the first time since the second-to-last game of his freshman season...California is the only visiting team that has won twice at Mac Court during the past three seasons... Oregon travels to Oregon State where it has won seven of the last eight meetings at Gill Coliseum.

OREGON STATE - The Beavers have used the same starting lineup for 18 consecutive games (Jimmie Haywood, Lamar Hurd, Floyd North, Philip Ricci, Brian Jackson)...Senior forward Brian Jackson enters Saturday's game with 1,124 career points - six short of 20th on the OSU career list. He has also made 19 consecutive free throws...The last three opponents at Gill (Washington, California, Stanford) have combined to shoot .543 (19-35) from three-point range in the first half, compared to OSU's .207 (6-29)...Senior center Philip Ricci is fifth for career blocked shots at OSU with 69. Guard Lamar Hurd is on pace to have 112 assists, the third-highest mark ever by a Beaver freshman...Walk-on David Lucas has averaged 8.7 points over the last three games.

STANFORD - Senior guard Julius Barnes scored a career-high 33 points in the win at Oregon State. Other than the scoring escapades of former Cardinal Casey Jacobsen, the last Stanford player to score that many points was Jason Collins (33 vs. Washington, 2001)...Sophomore forward Josh Childress posted his eighth double-double of the season with 15 points and 13 rebounds at Oregon. He's tied for the Pac-10 lead with Oregon State's Philip Ricci...In 12 of Stanford's 17 wins, the Cardinal have held the opposition to under 40 percent shooting from the field. The Cardinal lead the Pac-10 in defense field goal percentage (.406)...The Cardinal have swept the home series with the Washington schools the last six years.

UCLA - With their win at Georgetown, the Bruins snapped a nine-game losing streak. It was their longest such streak since the 1940-41 season when they lost 10 straight...Freshman center Ryan Hollins posted a season best 14 points in the victory. Hollins has started the last four games, averaging 9.0 points and 7.5 rebounds...Senior forward Jason Kapono has 295 three-pointers in his career - the Pac-10 record is 323, set by Arizona State's Stevin Smith (1991-94)...Over the last four games, UCLA is shooting 118-of-245 (.482) from the field, including 23-of-59 (.390) from three-point range, while holding the opposition to 117-268 (.437).

USC - The Trojans have equaled their season-best win streak at three games. Over the last three games, USC is averaging 91.7 points, while shooting 99-of-208 (.476) from the field. Defensively, the Trojans have picked up 37 steals (12.3 per game) and have forced 76 turnovers (25.3 per game) in that three game span... Junior guard Desmon Farmer averaged 25.0 points and 6.5 rebounds last week. Farmer has scored 20 or more points in three of the last five games and is averaging 20.5 points over the last five games....With six steals at UNLV, sophomore guard Errick Craven has recorded at least six thefts in a game for the third time this season and the sixth time in his career...Junior forward Jerry Dupree equaled a career best with 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting at UNLV.

WASHINGTON - The Huskies have started four freshmen in each of the last three games. Of the 100 total starts this season, 40 have been by freshmen, 25 by sophomores...Washington played in back-to-back overtime games for the first time since 1988 when the Huskies lost to California 84-82 in an extra period, then defeated Stanford 84-82 in double overtime. It was the fourth time in school history for back-to-back overtime games...Freshman guard Nate Robinson averaged 19.5 points and 5.0 rebounds in the overtime losses to Arizona and Arizona State, including a season-high 20 points against the Sun Devils...Freshman center Anthony Washington is out indefinitely with a sprained left foot...Freshman forward Bobby Jones posted his first double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds against Arizona...The Huskies take on Stanford Thursday and will look to sweep the season series for the first time since 1993.

WASHINGTON STATE - The Cougars look for their first win over the Cardinal since winning at Stanford during the 1996 season...The Cougars look to snap a 17-game road losing streak in Pac-10 play...Senior forward Milton Riley posted a season-high 19 points on 8-of-9 shooting against Arizona. Junior center Ezenwa Ukeagu grabbed a career-high 10 rebounds against the Wildcats...Sophomore forward Chris Schlatter enjoys the home atmosphere of Friel Court as he is shooting 20-of-43 (.465) from beyond the arc. On the road, Schlatter is shooting just 3-of-22 (.136) from three-point range.
