Arizona Men's Tennis Moves to No. 47

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Arizona men's tennis team climbed one spot in the recent Omni Hotels collegiate rankings, administered by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. The Wildcats moved from No. 48 to No. 47 after a splitting their matches between Brigham Young and UC Santa Barbara.
Arizona fell to the Cougars on Feb. 8 in Tucson by a score of 4-3. The Wildcats started out strong, winning the doubles point but failed to capitalize on that advantage. Arizona lost four of the six singles matches to fall, 4-3. Winning once again for the Wildcats were sophomore Colin O'Grady and freshman Roger Matalonga, both extending their singles unbeaten streaks.
On Feb. 9, Arizona handed Utah its fourth loss of the season. The Wildcats once again came out and won the doubles point and rode their momentum through the singles matches, defeating the Utes, 6-1. Arizona's lone loss came in the No. 6 position where freshman Tim Mullane fell to Utah's Kairon Chaichana, 4-6, 6-3, 6-0.
The Wildcats will face No. 15 USC in Los Angeles, Calif., Feb. 14. The action will begin at 1:30 p.m.
