Cal Women Place 8th At Northrop Grumman Challenge

Palos Verdes - No. 5 ranked California made up significant ground on their second day of competion moving up two spots from 10th place to 8th before the tournament was called Wednesday. After two rounds the Bears scored a team total of 56-over par, 32 of those strokes came on Tuesday during wet and windy conditions.

The conditions surely had a hand in the high scoring tournament with First-place Pepperdine scoring a thirty-over par 598 for the two rounds. Scoring came hard for the Bears also, having managed just sixteen birdies during the two rounds. Seniors Ria Quiazon and Vikki Laing were the bright spots in the Bear lineup shooting plus-12 and plus-13 respectively. Quiazon was also the highest scoring Golden Bear finishing in a tie for 22nd place overall. The individual champion was Katherine Hull of Pepperdine. (plus-4 69-74/144)
