Former Beaver Gymnast To Perform At OSU-Utah Meet
Feb. 12, 2003
CORVALLIS, Ore. - Former Oregon State gymnast Debbie (Marland) Park will return to Gill Coliseum for an encore performance at the February 21 meet between the No. 9 Beavers and No. 2 Utah.
Park, who competed for the Beavers from 1985-88, is an internationally known rhythmic gymnast and figure skater. She will perform an aerial tissu routine similar to the one she performed at last year's Shanico Inn-vitational.
Park has been busy since last year's performance in Gill Coliseum. She performed at the ARD Gala in Frankfurt, Germany, Art on Ice in Lausanne, Switzerland and Stars on Ice shows throughout Europe. She appeared alongside World and Olympic champions such as Alexei Yagudin, Evgeny Plushenko and Katarina Witt.
She and her husband, Lee, also combined their gymnastics and skating talents and performed together throughout the United States, including the Miracles of Gold show in Lake Placid, New York, and Jackson on Ice in Wyoming. They've also performed on several cruise ships in the past year.
The Parks have also taken up indoor stunt kite flying and won the bronze medal at the World Championships.
The OSU-Utah meet is set for 7 p.m., Friday, February 21. Park's routine will be the featured pre-meet entertainment at the competition. Reserved seat tickets are $10, and general admission tickets are $6 for adults and $4 for senior citizens and children. Tickets can be purchased by calling the OSU ticket office at 1-800-GO-BEAVS or in person at Gill Coliseum.
