Stanford Blanks UC Irvine, 7-0

STANFORD, Calif. - The seventh-ranked Stanford men's tennis team kicked off a busy weekend with a 7-0 victory over visiting UC Irvine on Friday afternoon at the Taube Tennis Center.

The Cardinal (2-1) will play three matches in four days this weekend, including Friday's convincing win over the 67th-ranked Anteaters (5-3). Stanford hosts No. 63 Fresno State (3-2) on Saturday at 12:00 p.m. and No. 33 San Diego State (1-1) on Monday at 1:30 p.m.

The Cardinal won all nine matches on Friday, with five of the six singles victories coming in straight sets. At the top of the singles ladder, Stanford senior Ryan Haviland (Aiken, SC) rolled to a 6-2, 6-2 win over Jonathan Endrikat.

The No. 1 doubles match paired two of the top-ranked teams in the country, as Stanford's third-ranked team of Scott Lipsky (Merrick, NY) and David Martin (Tulsa, OK) outlasted 11th-raked Endrikat and Brian Morton 9-7.
