Arizona Men's Tennis Takes Week Off

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Arizona men's tennis team will rest this week in preparation for its match against Arizona State, on Feb. 28. The Wildcats will use this week to gear-up for the heart of the Pac-10 season.
'We just competed in five matches in eight days,' said head coach Bill Wright. 'We wanted to play a lot of matches to give us more experience and conditioning.'
Last weekend in Los Angeles, Calif., the Wildcats struggled against top-ranked opponents. Arizona fell to the No. 15 USC Trojans, 6-1, on Friday Feb. 14. Freshman Roger Matalonga won his match in the No. 6 slot, giving his team their only point.
No. 1-ranked UCLA hosted the Wildcats on Feb. 15. The Bruins defeated the Wildcats, 7-0, dropping Arizona to 5-3 overall and 0-2 in the Pac-10. The duo of sophomore Colin O'Grady and Matalonga continued its winning streak, defeating Daniel Langre and Ruben Torres, 8-5, in the No. 3 position.
The Wildcats take the courts again on Friday, Feb. 28, in Tempe, Ariz. when they will take on the Sun Devils at 1:30 p.m.
