NFCA Leadoff Classic Postponed

Heavy rain in southwest Georgia has forced the delay of the NFCA Leadoff Classic, as the No. 4 California softball team has yet to begin its first game of the three-day tournament. Play will resume on Saturday at noon with the conclusion of the halted games.
The Golden Bears (10-2) were scheduled to play No. 17 Alabama at 2:30 p.m. and No. 23 Notre Dame at 5 p.m., EST.
Six games were underway when the 24-team tournament was halted around 1:30 EST Friday. Washington leads South Carolina, 2-1 going into the bottom of the sixth. Stanford holds a 3-0 advantage over North Carolina in the bottom of the fifth inning. Massachusetts has a 7-1 lead over Oregon State in the top of the sixth while Alabama leads Illinois State, 3-0 in the fifth. Arizona and DePaul are scoreless heading into the bottom of the seventh inning and Oklahoma sits in a 1-1 deadlock with Villanova in the sixth.
Pool play will continue at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m., 7 p.m., and 9 p.m. Saturday, while bracket play will begin Sunday at 10 a.m. Tomorrow the Bears take on Alabama at 1 p.m., Notre Dame at 3 p.m. and Illinois State at 7 p.m.
