Feb. 21, 2003
Austin, Tex. - The opening game of a three-game series scheduled between No. 10 Stanford (7-5) and No. 4 Texas (11-1) at Disch-Falk for Friday, February 21, has been postponed due to rain. The teams have rescheduled the game as part of a doubleheader on Saturday, February 22 (1 pm, CT). Saturday's start time has been moved up one hour from its originally scheduled time with the addition of the extra game. Stanford will begin the series with a four-game win streak, while the Longhorns have won eight in a row.
Stanford and Texas have played 11 times during the last two seasons with the Cardinal winning six of those games. Stanford ended the season for Texas in 2001 by sweeping the Longhorns in a doubleheader on the final day of an NCAA Regional at Stanford. Texas knocked Stanford out of the College World Series with a pair of victories over the Cardinal in Omaha last year en route to their CWS championship. Stanford leads the all-time series, 13-11-1.
