Women's Tennis Returns Home for Two Matches

Feb. 21, 2003

EUGENE - The No. 39 Oregon women's tennis team, fresh off an upset of No. 16 Arizona, plays two home matches this weekend at the Student Tennis Center. The Ducks (8-2, 1-1) will play No. 20 Washington Saturday at noon, followed by an 11 a.m. Sunday match against No. 44 Washington State.

Last weekend in Arizona, Oregon lost to No. 8 Arizona State, 5-2, before upsetting No. 16 Arizona, 4-3. Oregon won the doubles point and clinched the victory with Courtney Nagle's three-set win at the No. 3 spot in singles.

Sophomore Daria Panova, ranked No. 28 nationally has a record of 6-2 in singles play, with her only two losses coming this past week. Panova, who won the singles championship at the Pac-10 Indoors earlier this year, has a chance to move up this week in the rankings with a solid weekend.

One of Oregon's strengths continues to be its doubles play. The Ducks have won the doubles point in eight of the 10 matches so far. Freshmen Anna Leksinska and Jamie Marshall have played together in every match at the No. 3 spot, and sport an 8-2 record.

Live scoring will be available for both matches at www.GoDucks.com.
