No. 14 Softball Washed Out Again Against Liberty

Feb. 22, 2003

COLUMBUS, Ga. - The rains just keep coming.... The Arizona State softball game against Liberty was halted in the top of the sixth inning with the Devils on top 8-4 at the NFCA Leadoff Classic in Columbus, Georgia. After two separate earlier rain delays during the game, the third band of rain was too much as the game was stopped and will resume on Sunday at 10:00 a.m.

Highlights of the game included a three-run home run by Kara Brun and a two run home run by Adriana Garcia in the third inning. Billie Akauola nearly hit her first career home run, but just fell short of the fence as she stretched it for a triple. The Devils also executed a double steal with Kim Zadrozny stealing second and Garcia swiping home. Ashley Werschky started the game and was relived by Susan Aguilar when the game was suspended.

Weather permitting; the Devils will end the tournament against Ohio State following the Liberty game at 11:00 a.m.
