Jessica Allister And Dana Sorensen Named To NFCA All-Tournament Team

Stanford, Calif. - Juniors Jessica Allister (Nacogdoches, TX) and Dana Sorensen (San Diego, CA) were named to the NFCA Leadoff Classic All-Tournament Team. Stanford finished 2-1 in the tournament, beating North Carolina (6-0), Southern Mississippi (2-0) and dropping a 1-0 contest to third-ranked Nebraska last weekend in Columbus, Ga.
Massachusetts was crowned the NFCA Leadoff Classic Champion, while Alabama and Nebraska placed second and third, respectively.
Allister, a catcher, led the Cardinal with a .429 batting average over the weekend. She went 3-for-7 with a double and two RBI. Allister also gunned down five base runners and allowed only one stolen base in three games.
Sorensen made it through the weekend with a perfect 0.00 ERA in 11.1 innings of work. She picked up the win over North Carolina and threw the final five inning against Nebraska, striking out 11 and did not allow a batter on base. Sorensen finished with 21 strikeouts, one walk and allowed only three hits.
Stanford, now 12-3 overall, returns home to host the Stanford Classic this weekend (Feb. 28-Mar. 2) and will be joined by Georgia, Long Beach State and Texas A&M at the Boyd & Jill Smith Family Stadium.
