With three preseason titles under its belt, Oregon will travel to St. George, Utah in search of its fourth title. The Ducks play five games over three days and will have a rematch with Arkansas, which beat Oregon 3-1 at the Southwest Texas Tournament, Feb. 2.
ESPN.COM/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 Poll
The Amateur Softball Association (ASA) released the first-ever ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 poll on Feb. 25. Oregon debuted at No. 22 as all eight Pac-10 teams were ranked, including No. 1 UCLA. Oregon has defeated three of the teams ranked in the initial poll - No. 12 Georgia, No. 15 Florida State and No. 21 Michigan.
Cracking The Top 25
Oregon broke into the NFCA Top 25 at No. 25 on Jan. 29. This week, the Ducks have moved up two spots to No. 23. Oregon had not been ranked in the NFCA Poll since March 8, 2001. All eight Pac-10 teams are ranked in the NFCA Poll, led by No. 1 UCLA and No. 2 Arizona.
Houston Invitational Recap
Oregon finished the tournament 3-1 to capture its fourth tournament title in five trips. Heavy rains in Texas cancelled all games Friday as the Ducks played only four of their six scheduled games. Freshman Breanne Sabol scored the lone run in Oregon's 1-0 victory over Texas Tech and senior Lynsey Haij was 3-for-4 with two runs scored in a 5-1 win over Houston. On Sunday, freshman Beth Boskovich was 2-for-4 with a home run and a single to lift the Ducks to their third win of the tournament, a 6-3 victory over Kentucky. Texas-San Antonio came from behind to defeat Oregon, 8-7, in the Ducks' final game.
Boskovich Named To All-Tournament Team
Oregon freshman Beth Boskovich was named to the Campbell/Cartier Classic All-Tournament team two weeks ago. Boskovich (Camarillo, Calif.) was 5-for-12 (.417) with three RBI and two runs scored. Boskovich hit her first home run of the season, a two-run shot over the left field fence against Northridge.
