Men's Golf Hosts Cleveland Golf Classic

THE TOURNEY--The USC men's golf team will host the 26th annual Cleveland Golf Classic on Mar. 3-4 (Mon.-Tues.) at North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif. Play begins with 36 holes on Monday, Mar. 3, beginning at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start and concludes on Tuesday, Mar. 4, with the final round beginning at 7:30 a.m. off the first and 10th tees.
THE FIELD--In addition to two-time defending Pac-10 champion USC, the other 16 teams in the tournament are Arizona State, Brigham Young, California, Fresno State, Houston, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Oregon, Oregon State, Pepperdine, San Diego State, Stanford, Tennessee, UCLA, UC Santa Barbara and Washington. Four of the teams (UCLA, Pepperdine, Washington and Tennessee) are ranked in the latest Golfweek Top 25 rankings, while four golfers (Nick Watney of Fresno St., Jim Seki of Stanford and Chris Nallen and Ricky Barnes of Arizona) are in the Top 25 of the Golfweek individual rankings.
LAST YEAR'S CLASSIC--USC won the Cleveland Golf Classic last season, shooting 864 to finish three strokes ahead of Oregon and Washington. Brock Mackenzie of Washington won the individual title with a five-under-par 208.
SO FAR THIS YEAR--USC has four top 10 finishes so far this season, including fourth-place finishes at the Arizona Invitational and the Sooner Invitional. Troy also took sixth at the Carpet Capital Collegiate and tied for seventh at the Waikoloa Intercollegiate.
