Senior Kim Harada Continues to Shine for UW

FEDERAL WAY, Wash. - - The University of Washington competed in the second day of competition at the 2003 Pac-10 Women's Swimming and Diving Championships at the King County Aquatic Center in Federal Way this evening. Washington is in seventh place with 393.5 points.

Senior Kim Harada led the Huskies for the second day of competition. She dominated the 200 free, winning the event and recording the only NCAA qualifying time (1:46.87) in the event. She shattered her season high by three seconds. Freshman Sharon Olson scored a season high in the same event with sixth place finish of 1:49.58.

Washington's 800 freestyle relay team composed of Kim Harada, Sharon Olson, Liya Liu and Melody Staubitz tied the Huskies season high time of 7:27.33 with a fifth place finish.

The 2003 Pac-10 Women's Swimming and Diving Championships conclude tomorrow, Saturday, Mar. 1. Preliminaries begin at 11 a.m. with the finals starting at 6 p.m. Races for Saturday will include 1650 freestyle, 200 backstroke, 100 freestyle, 200 breaststroke, 200 butterfly and 400 freestyle relay.
