FULLERTON, CALIF. - The No. 17 Oregon State softball squad picked up its second win in three games at the CSUF Worth tournament on Saturday, holding off a Purdue rally to down the Boilermakers 5-4.
The Boilermakers (5-8) scored a run in the seventh and looked to make a comeback, but with two-down, freshman Amy Klever came into the game and picked up her second save of the season, striking out the Boilermakers' final batter and giving the Beavers (15-6) their 15th win of the season.
Senior second baseman Brynnen Guthrie provided the Beavers with a solid effort at the plate in the contest, going 3-for-4 with 2 RBI and a double. Freshman Lisa Allen was 2-for-2 with a run scored. OSU pounded nine hits on the day with Clare Burnum, Shelly Prochaska, Vanessa Iapala and Adrienne Alo all recording a hit.
Monica Hoffman started the game in the circle for the Beavers, giving up four hits and three runs while fanning three batters before being replaced by Dena DuBois in the top of the fourth. DuBois went on to record her first win of the season (1-1), allowing four hits and one run before Klever came in for the save in the seventh.
