Women's Hoops To Open Pac-10 Tournament Play vs. California on Friday Night

TEMPE, Ariz. - The Arizona State women's basketball team will take on California in the first round of the 2003 State Farm Pac-10 Women's Basketball Tournament on Friday night at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.
The Sun Devils head into the tournament as the No. 8 seed and will face ninth-seeded Cal at 8:45 p.m. Pacific Time (9:45 p.m. Mountain Time) on Friday night. The winner of the ASU-Cal game will then face top-seeded Stanford at 5 p.m. on Saturday.
Arizona State heads into this year's event looking to defend their 2002 Pac-10 Tournament Championship. Last year, the Sun Devils earned the No. 3 seed at the inaugural Pac-10 Tournament, held at McArthur Court in Eugene, Ore. Arizona State knocked off Arizona and Oregon in its first two games before upsetting then second-ranked Stanford 70-63 to win the 2002 tournament.
