Husky Men's Golfers Sixth at Cleveland Classic

Westlake Village, Calif. - The 10th-ranked Washington men's golf team is in sixth place after the opening 36 holes of play at the Cleveland Golf Classic at North Ranch Country Club. The Huskies opened Monday's play with a first-round 295 and then rebounded for an even-par 284 in the afternoon to climb up the standings. At 579, the Huskies trail tournament leader UCLA by 13 strokes. California is second at 573.

Washington was led in the first two rounds by defending medalist Brock Mackenzie. He posted back-to-back rounds of 1-under 70 on the 6,815-yard course. Mackenzie is sixth overall, two stokes behind UCLA's Roy Moon. Moon carded a 71 during the first round, but grabbed the lead thanks to a 67 during the second round. Four players are one stroke behind Moon in second place.

Washington's other scores included a 4-over 146 by Conner Robbins to put him in 28th place. Dan Potter shot 147 to stand 37th while Derek Berg is two strokes behind him and in 58th place. Corey Prugh shot 151 and is 70th.

The final round of play will take place Tuesday.
