Jason Gardner and Luke Walton Named First Team NABC All-District 15

TUCSON, Ariz. - University of Arizona men's basketball players Jason Gardner and Luke Walton were first team selections to the National Association of Basketball Coaches' all-District 15 team. It marks the second consecutive season in which both players were first team honorees.
Gardner and Walton were joined on the all-District 15 first team by Ike Diogu of Arizona State, Marcus Banks of UNLV and Jason Keep of San Diego. Second team selections were Jason Kapono of UCLA, Errick Craven of USC, Dalron Johnson of UNLV, Mark Hull of UC-Santa Barbara and James Moore of New Mexico State.
Gardner, a 5-foot-10, 191-pound senior guard from Indianapolis, Ind., leads Arizona in scoring (14.5 ppg), assists (5.2), steals (1.8), minutes played (854), while also posting a career-best 4.0 rebounds per game average. He is shooting 41.1 percent from the field, including 34.9 percent from three-point range, and 75.2 percent from the free throw line. He's earned NABC all-district honors three times in his career.
Walton, a 6-foot-8, 245-pound senior forward from San Diego, Calif., currently averages 10.1 points, 5.4 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 21 games this season. He is shooting 42.4 percent from the floor and ranks sixth among Pac-10 players with a 42.3 three-point field goal percentage. One of the most versatile players in the country, Walton has 11 double figure scoring games this season to go with 10 games of five or more assists. Walton was a first team selection in 2002 as well.
The top-ranked Wildcats return to action on Thursday, March 6, when the club hosts Oregon State. Tip-off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. MST and can be seen live on Fox Sports Net Arizona.
