Men's Golf Close First Two Rounds at California in 13th

WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. - The Oregon men's golf team shot 21-over par 568 Monday at North Ranch Country Club and finished 14th after 2 rounds on the first day of the Cleveland Golf Classic.
At the halfway point Monday, the Ducks entered the second round tied for 6th at 5-over par, with both senior John Ellis and freshman Gregg LaVoie shooting even par 71s. The men then began to stumble as they entered the second round adding more strokes to their game and dropping to 13th.
Ellis finished the day tied for 21st leading Oregon at 3-over par (71-74-145). LaVoie added six strokes in the second round to tie for 47th at 6-over par (71-77-148).
UCLA currently leads the tournament at 2-under par (289-277-566) following a striking second round performance where they shot 7-under par.
Finishing at 4-under par, UCLA's Roy Moon (71-67-138) leads the individuals into Tuesday's second day of competition.
Oregon will conclude play Tuesday with the third and final round of the Cleveland Golf Classic. The Ducks currently stand eight strokes out of the top-10.
