Cal Currently Fifth After First Day of Spartan Invitational

SALINAS - California finds themselves 25 strokes back of Pepperdine (-13) after the morning rounds on Tuesday. They have 36 holes on Wednesday to make up ground on UCLA (-5), Arizona State (-4), and UNLV (+11). Bright spots for the Bears include Sarah Huarte (74/ +2) and Ria Quiazon (74/ +2) who are both tied for 19th.

Katherine Hull and Lindsey Wright of Pepperdine University both set course records today.Wright, fired a seven-under 65, on the par 72, 5,938-yard Corral de Tierra Country Club to break the previous record of 66. Hull, the nation's top-ranked player, finished her round in the next threesome with a nine-under par 63. Both players had one stretch of four consecutive birdies during their round.

The 75-player field is completing 36 holes today with an afternoon round. The 54-hole tournament concludes Wednesday with 18 holes.
