STANFORD MEN'S TENNIS SHOOTS FOR ALL-TIME WIN NO. 1,000: The Stanford men's tennis can record the 1,000th dual win in program history this week as it plays three matches in four days ... Stanford, which has compiled a 998-320-4 mark since official records began being kept in 1926, hosts 29th-ranked Tulane on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Taube Tennis Center ... The sixth-ranked Cardinal then travels to 50th-ranked Arizona on Friday and 48th-ranked Arizona State on Saturday ... Stanford, which has recorded 15 consecutive 20-win seasons, has recorded 739 of those victories under current head coach Dick Gould.
PACIFIC COAST DOUBLES CHAMPIONSHIP: Freshmen KC Corkery (Manhattan Beach, CA) and James Pade (Woodside, CA) continued their emergence as one of the top doubles teams in the nation by advancing to the semifinals of the 114th Pacific Coast Men's Doubles Championship last Friday-Sunday at the La Jolla Beach and Tennis Club ... Corkery and Pade, who are ranked 18th in the nation and were the collegiate seventh seeds in the 128-team draw, advanced to the semis with four victories in two days ... On Saturday, Corkery and Pade upset the top-seeded open entry (Adriano Biasella/Peter Smith, 6-2, 6-4) in the fourth round and the fourth-seeded collegiate team (Diego Acuna/Calle Hansen of Pepperdine, 1-6, 6-3, 6-4) in the quarterfinals ... In addition, Cardinal seniors Scott Lipsky (Merrick, NY) and David Martin (Tulsa, OK) won three matches in two days before falling in the quarterfinals.
CARDINAL NOTES: Stanford has won two straight dual matches, including a 7-0 home win over Utah last Tuesday ... Following this weekend's action, Stanford will take a two-week break for final exams ... The Cardinal returns to action on Monday, March 24 against Harvard at 1:30 p.m. at the Taube Tennis Center ... Senior Ryan Haviland (Aiken, SC) has left the team for personal reasons.
