Women's Golf Third After First 18 Holes at Spartan Invitational

SALINAS, Calif. - Led by sophomore Erin Tone, the Arizona State women's golf team shot a season-low, four-under par 284 in the first round of the Spartan Invitational, being held March 4-5 at the par 72, 5,938-yard Corral de Tierra Country Club in Salinas, Calif.
The tournament continues with another 18 holes tonight and wraps up with 18 holes on Wednesday. Tee times on Wednesday begin at 8 a.m. Pacific Standard Time (9 a.m. MST).
Pepperdine leads the tournament after carding a 13-under 275 in the first 18 holes, followed by UCLA (283), ASU (284), UNLV (299) and California (300) in the top five.
Tone leads the Sun Devil effort after carding a three-under 69 in the first round. She is tied for third, six strokes behind tournament leader Katherine Hull of Pepperdine who shot a nine-under 63 in the first round.
Senior Gaï¿½lle Truet is tied for sixth after shooting a season-low, two-under 70, while senior Blair O'Neal is tied for 11th with an even par 72. Freshman Alissa Kuczka is tied for 16th at one-over 73, while junior Lisa Desimone is tied for 53rd after shooting an 80 in the first round on Tuesday.
Results from tonight's second round will be available at approximately 8:30 p.m. Mountain Standard Time.
