No. 23 Softball Set For National Invitational Softball Tournament In San Jose, Calif.

National Invitational Softball Tournament - San Jose, Calif.The Ducks head to San Jose, Calif., for their final preseason tournament of the season. Oregon opens play Friday vs. Georgia Tech and San Jose State. Oregon's later games will be determined by results of games played Friday. Three other Pac-10 teams will also be competing at the tournament - Arizona State, Oregon State and California.
ESPN.COM/USA SOFTBALL COLLEGIATE TOP 25 POLL
The Amateur Softball Association (ASA) released the first-ever ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 poll on Feb. 25. Oregon debuted at No. 22 as all eight Pac-10 teams were ranked, including No. 1 UCLA. Oregon fell one spot to No. 23 this week.
CRACKING THE TOP 25
Oregon broke into the NFCA Top 25 at No. 25 on Jan. 29. This week, the Ducks are at No. 23 for the second consecutive week. Oregon had not been ranked in the NFCA Poll since March 8, 2001. All eight Pac-10 teams are ranked in the NFCA Poll, led by No. 1 UCLA and No. 2 Arizona.
RED DESERT CLASSIC RECAP
Oregon's tournament in St. George, Utah last week was cancelled due to inclement weather. Oregon was scheduled to play five games and will try to schedule some of those teams to play in Eugene at a later date.
HOUSTON INVITATIONAL RECAP
Oregon finished the tournament 3-1 to capture its fourth tournament title in five trips. Heavy rains in Texas cancelled all games Friday as the Ducks played only four of their six scheduled games. Freshman Breanne Sabol scored the lone run in Oregon's 1-0 victory over Texas Tech and senior Lynsey Haij was 3-for-4 with two runs scored in a 5-1 win over Houston. On Sunday, freshman Beth Boskovich was 2-for-4 with a home run and a single to lift the Ducks to their third win of the tournament, a 6-3 victory over Kentucky. Texas-San Antonio came from behind to defeat Oregon, 8-7, in the Ducks' final game.
