Three Women's Basketball Players Garner All-Pac-10 Recognition

SAN JOSE, Calif. - Oregon State's women's basketball team had three players receive 2002-03 All-Pacific-10 Conference recognition as was announced on Thursday by Pac-10 Commissioner Tom Hansen. Junior guard Leilani Estavan received first team All-Pac-10 honors while Hollye Chapman earned honorable mention accolades. Casey Bunn was named to the honorable mention All-Freshman squad.

Estavan, a Los Angeles, CA, native, earns first team All-Pac-10 recognition for the first time in her career after gaining honorable mention accolades last season. The junior guard currently leads the Beavers in assists (4.8 apg.), steals (2.0 spg.) and minutes played (34.2 mpg.). Estavan averages 11.7 points per game and has reached double figures in a team-leading 18 contests.

Chapman, a junior from Cottage Grove, OR, earns Pac-10 recognition for the first time in her career. She currently leads the Beavers in scoring (12.2 ppg.), field goal percentage (.507), 3-point field goal percentage (.383), and ranks second on the team in rebounding (6.0 rpg.).

Bunn, a freshman from Stayton, OR, has made seven consecutive appearances in the starting lineup and ranks third on the team in rebounding (4.2 rpg.) and fourth on the team in scoring (6.7 ppg.).

University of Washington junior guard Giuliana Mendiola was named the 2002-03 Pacific-10 Women's Basketball Player of the Year, while Arizona's Shawntinice Polk was selected as Pac-10 Freshman of the Year. Tara VanDerveer of Stanford was named the Pac-10 Coach of the Year.

The Beavers (14-13) face No. 22 Arizona (20-7) in the first round of the Pac-10 Tournament on Saturday at 1:15 p.m.
