Arizona Men's Tennis Loses to No. 5 California, 6-1

TUCSON, Ariz. - The No. 50-ranked Arizona Men's Tennis fell to No. 5 California Golden Bears, Saturday, 6-1. Arizona falls to 5-6 overall, while the Golden Bears improve to 10-1 on the season. The Wildcats lost the doubles point and won one singles match.

On court two, the pair of junior Whi Kim and sophomore Paul Warkentin defeated Conor Niland and Mik Ledvonova, 8-6. The pair of sophomore Colin O'Grady and freshman Roger Matalonga fell to Patrick Briaud and Balazs Veress, 8-2, in the No.1 position. Clinching the doubles point for the Bears was Or Dekel and Robert Kowalczyk who defeated junior Carl Hagman and freshman Daniel Andrus, 8-5.

Matalonga earned Arizona's singles point by defeating Wayne Wong in straight sets, 7-6 (6), 6-2, at the No. 5 slot. California's Conor Niland clinched the match by defeating Kim on court one, 6-4, 2-6, 6-2. Hagman lost to Balazs Veress, 7-5, 4-6, 6-4, in the No. 2 position. On court three, Warkentin fell to Or Dekez, 7-6, 7-6 (0). Playing in the No. 4 position, O'Grady fell to Robert Kowalczyk, 6-3, 6-1. Andrus lost to Mik Ledvonova, 6-1, 6-1.

The Wildcats will next be in action, March 28, when they host UCLA at the LaNelle Robson Tennis Center. First serve is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
