No. 4 Softball Shutouts North Carolina, 4-0

PLANT CITY, Fla. - The fourth-ranked Washington softball team (21-1-1) shutout North Carolina, 4-0, Saturday to earn the No. 2 seed in pool 'B' of the championship bracket at the Speedline Invitational.
Rita Roach (Norwalk, Calif.) led off the game with a single to the short stop and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt by Aimee Minor (San Jacinto, Calif.). Roach stole third base and Jaime Clark (Tustin, Calif.) hit a deep fly ball to center field to score Roach.
The Huskies scored another run in the second inning on a solo home run by Sarah Hyatt (Sedro-Woolley, Wash.). Hyatt took a 3-2 pitch over the centerfield fence for her fourth homer of the season.
Kristen Rivera (Perris, Calif.) gave Washington the 3-0 lead with a leadoff home run in the fourth frame. It was Rivera's 11th home run of the season.
UW scored its fourth and final run in the seventh inning on Hyatt's second home run of the game with a solo shot over the left field fence.
Tia Bollinger (Santa Ana, Calif.) notched the win for the Huskies, her 11th of the season (11-0). She gave up just four hits and one walk, while fanning six. It marks the fifth shutout of the year for Bollinger.
The victory gives Washington the No. 2 seed entering the single-elimination championship bracket. The Huskies will take on the No. 3 seed of pool 'C' Temple at 5 p.m. (EST). UW defeated the Owls, 4-3, at the NFCA Leadoff Classic on Feb. 24.
