Coakley Leads Beavers At Northwest Shootout

Freshman Kenny Coakley led the Oregon State men's golf team to third place at the four-team Northwest Shootout on Saturday. The tournament does not count toward qualification for postseason play.
Coakley, from Lakewood, Colo., fired a 76-74-150 in wet conditions over Saturday's two rounds at the par-72, 7,250-yard Washington National Golf Club. Coakley placed fourth, nine shots back of medalist Derek Berg of Washington.
Washington won the tournament, shooting 594, followed by Oregon at 606, Oregon State at 613, and Western Washington at 618.
Holmes, Kelley, and Sawyer all played as individuals, and their scores did not count toward OSU's team total.
The Beavers resume regular season action Mar. 24-25 at the Oregon Duck Invitational in Eugene.
