Leon, Mexico - Becky Lucidi fired a 72-hole 286 to win the 2003 Mexican Women's Amateur over fellow Women of Troy golfer Tanya Dergal this past Friday in Leon, Mexico.

Lucidi shot 74-72-69-71 to beat out Dergal, who shot 71-77-74-72 (294), by eight strokes.

Dergal is a freshman from Durango, Mexico, while Lucidi is a senior from San Diego, Calif.

The tournament was the 78th of its kind and included competitors from not only Mexico, but also the U.S., Columbia and Argentina. It was held at the Rural Lion Club.

'It was great competition and all the players showed great desire to win,' said Lucidi, who won the 2002 U.S. Women's Amateur last summer. 'I really liked the golf course, too.'

Both Trojan golfers return to the U.S. this week and will next travel with the Women of Troy to Hawaii to compete in the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational on March 18-19.
