Oregon Adds James Finley to List of 2003 Football Signees
March 10, 2003
EUGENE - James Finley, who was ranked among the top 20 prep wide receivers in the country two years ago as well as the third-best receiver on the West Coast by SuperPrep magazine, has signed a national football letter-of-intent to play football at the University of Oregon, according to the Ducks' head coach Mike Bellotti.
The 2001 graduate of Manuel Arts High School in Los Angeles completed his senior year with 83 catches for 1,400 yards and 14 touchdowns for a team which finished the season with a 6-5 record. The 6-2, 195-pound receiver also added six receptions for 122 yards and two scores in the post-season California-Florida all-star game. Accumulating 131 receptions for 2,477 yards and 28 touchdowns over his last two seasons, Finley was one of three receivers named to the Best in the West contingent by the Long Beach Press-Telegram as well as a Tacoma News Tribune Western One-Hundred selection.
Finley's signing as potentially one of the school's six wide receiver additions next year increases the number of this year's Oregon football recruits to 25.
Oregon opens spring football drills on Saturday, April 5.
