Bruins Head to NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships

The 2003 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, held at the Randal Tyson Track Center in Fayetteville, AR, will begin Friday, March 14, and conclude Saturday, March 15. Head women's coach Jeanette Bolden will take a squad of 10 athletes.
The Bruin women will contend for the team title, competing with a squad of 10 athletes. UCLA has qualified to compete in eight events.
200m - Sophomore Monique Henderson (San Diego, CA/Morse HS) enters with the No. 8 time of 23.49.
800m - Junior Lena Nilsson (Vallentuna, SWE/Vallentuna Gymnasium), the defending NCAA 1500m champion and member of UCLA's NCAA champion distance medley relay squad, enters with the No. 2 800m time in the NCAA at 2:04.67. And, senior Tiffany Burgess (Van Nuys, CA/Birmingham HS), also a member of the Bruins' NCAA champion distance medley relay, enters with the No. 5 800m time at 2:05.28.
3000m - Nilsson has the No. 6 time in the NCAA at 9:13.55.
60m Hurdles - Junior Sheena Johnson (Stafford, VA/Garfield HS) enters with the No. 11 time in the NCAA of 8.20.
4x400m - The Bruin squad of junior Adia McKinnon (Flossmoor, IL/Homewood-Flossmoor), Johnson, Hasani Roseby (Las Vegas, NV/Monterey, CA HS) and Henderson enter with the No. 7 time in the NCAA of 3:35.06.
Pole Vault - Sophomore Jamie Kolar (Long Beach, CA/Poly HS) and freshman Chelsea Johnson (Atascadero, CA/Atascadero HS) enter with a mark of 13-3.50 (4.05m) and are ranked No. 13 and No. 14, respectively, on the NCAA list.
Shot Put - Sophomore Jessica Cosby (Mission Hills, CA/Cleveland HS), the defending NCAA outdoor shot put champion, enters with the No. 8 throw on the NCAA list at 54-8 (16.66m).
20-lb. Weight Throw - Junior Cari Soong (Riverside, CA/North HS) enters with the No. 13 throw on the NCAA list at 64-2.25 (19.56m).
The Bruins won back-to-back NCAA Indoor titles in 2000 and 2001. At last year's NCAA Indoor Championships, UCLA scored 35 points and placed second behind LSU.
