Men's Tennis Unable to Defeat Aztecs of San Diego State

March 15, 2003

Tempe, AZ- The Arizona State Men's Tennis Team played a tough match against the San Diego State Aztecs (5-7) on Saturday afternoon, but were unable to build on the success from the week's earlier victory over Wake Forest, as they lost 5-2.

In doubles, the Ryan McBride and Pim Van Mele duo were the only ones to seal off a win for the Sun Devils as they defeated Felix Hardt and Gabe Coren in a gritty 9-8(7) match.

Singles found a couple Sun Devils with victories, but even Chris Letcher's 6-4, 6-4 win over Daniel Jung and Ryan McBride's 6-3, 6-4 defeat of Armando Carrascosa, were not enough to take the win from the Aztecs in the end.

The Sun Devils' record now stands at 4-7 with a match versus the No.24 University of Auburn Tigers (8-4)looming ahead of them on next Friday, March 21 at 1 p.m. in Auburn.
