OREGON earned the first Conference victory of 2003 with a 10-2 win at OREGON STATE on Saturday ... The defending National Champion CALIFORNIA squad was 4-0 at the Nike Blue & Gold Classic, winning their second consecutive tournament ... For the fourth straight week the Conference has all eight teams ranked in the both major polls ... UCLA maintains the No. 1 spot in the latest NFCA/USA Today poll and they are at No. 2 in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll ... ARIZONA earns its first outright No. 1 ranking this season, in the ESPN.com/USA Softball poll and is ranked No. 2 in the NFCA/USA Today Top 25... WASHINGTON enters this week ranked No. 3, followed by CALIFORNIA at No. 6, STANFORD at No. 12/9 (NFCA-USA Today/ESPN.com-USA Softball),ARIZONA STATE at No. 13/14, OREGON at No. 19/20 and OREGON STATE rounding out the poll at No. 20/19... The Pac-10 holds a 179-39-1 (.820) record against non-conference opponents thus far, and a 33-24 (.579) record against ranked foes.

ARIZONA: The 'Cats are outscoring their opponents 219-16 ... Freshman Autumn Champion has a 23-game hitting streak ... Junior Lovie Jung's 15 doubles are currently 10th on UA's all-time chart for doubles in a season ... Jung, Mackenzie Vandergeest and Alicia Hollowell are among 40 players to be named to the initial 'watch list' for USA Collegiate Player of the Year by the ASA ... Hollowell is 17-2 and has already amassed 190 strikeouts, more than former Wildcat All-Americans Susie Parra, Nancy Evans and Jennie Finch in their freshman campaigns ... Arizona hasn't given up more than three runs in a game all season, and 13 of the Wildcats' wins games have ended with the mercy rule.
ARIZONA STATE: Senior C Adriana Garcia is having her best season at ASU, surpassing last season's home run (8) and RBI (27) totals already ... Senior SS Kara Brun has had a record-shattering month becoming ASU's all-time career RBI leader (156) with a three-run homer against Virginia Tech, passing Erica Beach ... Two weeks ago she became ASU's all-time career home run leader, belting her 28th and 29th career long ball against UC Riverside and Oklahoma ... Redshirt freshman Desiree Serrano is the Devils' top hurler thus far, posting a 14-5 record with 138 strikeouts, four saves and a no-hitter against Iowa ... The Sun Devils have already hit 36 homers this season, which is a team record, breaking the previous season home run mark of 31, set in 2000 ... Junior Phelan Wright and Brun are on the ASA's initial 'watch list' for USA Collegiate Player of the Year ... The Sun Devils were featured in a March 11 article on ESPN.com.
CALIFORNIA: The Golden Bears won their second straight tournament, going undefeated at the Nike Blue and Gold Classic in Miami, Fla. ... Sophomore Kelly Anderson became only the 13th Bear pitcher to throw two no-hitters in a season, tossing her second no-no against Florida International on March 15 ... Head coach Diane Ninemire is just 13 victories away from becoming the all-time winningest head coach in Cal sports history. Her 676-339 mark, which spans 15 years, stands behind former baseball head Bob Milano's 688 career victories ... Senior Veronica Nelson (153 RBI) needs just one more RBI to pass Melanie McCart (153, 1994-97) as Cal's all-time career RBI leader ... She tied McCart's mark with her sixth long ball of the year, a solo shot versus Syracuse on March 14 ... Cal is outscoring its opponents 154-40 after 29 games played ... The Bears pitching staff has only allowed 15 extra base hits on the season, while tossing 12 shutouts.
OREGON: With the win over Oregon State, the Ducks won their Pac-10 season opener for the first time since 1998 and defeated OSU for the first time since 1998 ... Oregon tied a season-high with 13 hits against the Beavers ... Freshman P Amy Harris has tossed 75 strikeouts this year, which is currently sixth all-time in for a freshman at Oregon ... Freshman Beth Boskovich is leading the squad in batting average (.359), total bases (33), slugging (.516) and on base percentage (.446) ... Oregon opened the season 8-1, its best start in school history
OREGON STATE: The Beavers lost only their second home opener underCoach Kirk Walker (7-2), falling to Oregon on Saturday ... Senior Brynnen Guthrie has 10 multi-hit games this year, including seven three-hit outings ... Nine different Beavers have homered this year, which is second only to Arizona, with ten ... Senior Shelly Prochaska leads the squad with sixhomers ... Senior Monica Hoffman is 13-6 in the circle, after only amassing 14 wins last year ... Freshman Amy Klever recorded her first career shutout, blanking San Jose State in a complete game victory on March 7 ... Oregon State has outscored its opponents 123-61 through 29 games this season ... The Beavers kicked off the 2003 season with eight wins in a row, their best start since they went 6-0 to begin the 1998 campaign.
STANFORD: Junior pitcher Dana Sorensen was named Most Valuable Pitcher as the Cardinal placed second at the Speedline Invitational two weekends ago ... Sorensen has six double-digit strikeout performances on the year, including her first career no-hitter against Georgia on Feb. 28 ... Senior Cassi Brangham was named to the Speedline All-Tournament team after a 9-for-24 batting performance, with nine RBI ... Freshman Lauren Lappin is leading the Cardinal with a .388 batting average ... Stanford is 18-1 when they get on the scoreboard first.
UCLA: Senior Natasha Watley swept last week's national honors, earning the ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Player of the Week and the Louisville Slugger/NFCA Player Of The Week ... She currently has 144 career stolen bases, just four shy of the Pac-10 record ... Watley also leads the Bruins with 17 multi-hit games and 10 multi-RBI games ... Head coach Sue Enquist joined the '700 Club,' winning her 700th career game against UC Riverside ... Junior pitcher Keira Goerl has tossed 12 one-hitters in 20 decisions this season, including three this weekend.
WASHINGTON: Head coach Teresa Wilson got her 500th win as Washington head coach, in a 9-0 drubbing of Northwestern on March 1 ... She won her 700th career victory on Feb. 16 against Michigan ... Senior Jaime Clark, junior Tia Bollinger and Rivera were named on the USA Softball Player of the Year initial 'watch list' ... The Huskies are the only Pac-10 staff to have two aces with a dozen or more wins ... Bollinger is 13-1 in 17 starts this year, and leads the staff with a 1.17 ERA, and sophmore Ashley Boek is 12-1 in 11 starts, with a 1.39 ERA.
