Webster Advances at NCAA Championships

KANSAS CITY - Sophomore Shane Webster, the No. 12-ranked wrestler in the nation at 174, advanced to the second round of the championship bracket at the NCAA Championships. Webster defeated Cornell's Tyler Baier, 3-2, and will face the No. 5 seed, Iowa's Tyler Nixt, in the second round later this evening.
Junior Jason Harless lost his first round match at 133, 9-0, to Clarion's Rad Martinez. Harless will wrestle either the No. 4 seed Witt Durden of Oklahoma or Drexel's Joe Cristaldi this evening in the wrestlebacks. Harless lost to Durden, 4-2, in their only match against each other this season.
Senior Casey Hunt nearly pulled off the upset at 141 in the first round against the No. 6 seed, Lock Haven's Mike Maney, but eventually lost, 2-1. Hunt will face Josh Wooton of Norhern Illinois in the consolation bracket later today.
