Tulane Press Conference Quotes

Tulane Head Coach Lisa Stockton
OPENING STATEMENT:
'We are certainly glad to return to Stanford. It is a place that we were not expecting to come back to from last year. It is a tremendous environment, and I am really excited for our team to play in such an environment. As far as our first match up, Minnesota is certainly a tremendous team, and I am very impressed with what they have done in the Big 10 this year. They have had some young players that developed during the season and are really playing well for them.'

ON CONTAINING MINNESOTA GUARD LINDSAY WHALEN:
'I think that Whalen is a great player, but I also see Minnesota's ability to score across its whole line up. They're shooting percentages as a team are tremendous. When you talk about stopping people, you have to go back to some people in our conference. I do not know that you stop them, but I think you have to change percentages. That has to be our goal, and not have them shoot 50 percent from the floor. This will be a challenge to our defense.'

Tulane center Teana McKiver
ON PLAYING ON MAPLE PAVILION'S FLOOR LAST YEAR:
'I really like playing on the floor here at Stanford. It gives you a lot of spring when you are running up and down the court.'

ON APPROACHING MINNESOTA'S POST PLAYERS:
'I don't know how much different it will be. Just going against their bigger players is going to be an experience, trying to get a body on them and work around them trying to get a body on me.'

ON HAVING TULANE REVOLVE AROUND ITS POST PLAY:
'The post players are very important to this team. Being able to come inside really opens a lot of stuff for us on the perimeter. The post play does dominate our game, but it really helps the outside game too.'

Tulane forward Gwen Slaughter
ON CONFIDENCE AFTER KNOCKING OFF A HIGHER SEED LAST YEAR AT STANFORD:
'I think that it is great to come back here and play again. We are very familiar with the court and the environment here at Stanford. I think that we have quite a bit of confidence coming back after upsetting Colorado State in the first round last year.'

ON THE CROWD AT MAPLES PAVILION:
'I think that it is very exciting to play in front of this crowd. They are very intense, and when you get on the floor you expect to see a lot of people. It gets you energized and fired up.'
