Ducks 17th at UCLA/Pioneer Electronics Classic

Santa Clarita, Calif. - Grants Pass, Ore., sophomore Johnna Nealy led Oregon with a 7-over 79 as the Ducks were 17th after the first round of the UCLA/Pioneer Electronics Classic, played Monday at the 6,270-yard, par-72 Robinson Ranch Golf Club.

No. 9 California led the tournament with a 296, while the UCLA 'B' team was second at 300, No. 2 Pepperdine and No. 5 USC were tied for third at 304, No. 13 New Mexico was fifth at 306 and No. 14 UCLA, No. 25 Stanford and Washington State were tied for sixth at 310. Oregon had a 324 for its opening round.

Oregon freshmen Erin Andrews and Therese Wenslow were among a group tied for 59th at 9-over 81.

The tournament continues with single rounds Tuesday and Wednesday.
