OSU Drops To 15th In The Bruin Classic

The Oregon State women's golf team shot a 330 in Tuesday's second round of the UCLA/Pioneer Classic, dropping to 15th overall with a score of 643 and one round to play Wednesday at the par-72 Robinson Ranch Country Club.
No OSU golfer shot better than 82 Tuesday, and Alex Lucio leads the way with a two-round total of 14-over 158 after a second round 84. Lucio is tied for 43rd after matching a career best with a 74 Monday.
Laura Skinner is two shots back in a tie for 53rd in the 20-team, 100-player field. Six teams are ranked among the nation's top 25.
The Beavers lead Oregon in the Civil War Series contest by 10 strokes. The winner earns one point toward the series competition.
None of the field shot better than 300 Tuesday, and only California broke that mark Monday on a difficult golf course with tricky greens.
USC moved up from third on Tuesday to stake a 5-stroke lead over Pepperdine going into the final round.
Individually, San Jose State's Ashley Gomes' 69 was the lowest second round score by four shots and propelled her into a 1-shot lead over USC's Mikaela Parmlid and Lindsay Morgan of Washington. Gomes posted a 2-over 146.
