This weekend, Coach Jeanette Bolden's Bruin women will head to the Rainbow Relays in Honolulu, HI. The UCLA women's distance corps, coached by Eric Peterson, will compete at the Stanford Invitational. The Rainbow Relays begin Friday, March 28, and will end Sunday, March 30. The Stanford Invitational begins Saturday, and will end Sunday, March 30.
Among the Bruin women competing at the three-day Hawaii Relays are 2002 NCAA Outdoor champions Chaniqua Ross (discus) and Jessica Cosby (shot put) and 2002 NCAA Indoor champion Monique Henderson (distance medley relay).
Coach Eric Peterson will guide the Bruin women's distance corps at the Stanford Invitational. The UCLA women will compete in events from the 400m to the 10,000m. Lena Nilsson, the 2003 NCAA Indoor 800m and 2002 NCAA Outdoor 1500m champion, will compete in the 800m.
Last Weekend: Northridge InvitationalLast weekend, the Bruin women competed at the Northridge Invitational. Five women were victorious. On the track, Melissa McBain won the 1500m (4:32.25) and Adia McKinnon won the 100m (12.12, -0.9). In the field, Candice Baucham won the triple jump (42-8.75, 13.02m) and Chaniqua Ross won the discus (183-7, 55.95m) and shot put (54-9.25, 16.69m).
UCLA will host the first annual Rafer Johnson/Jackie Joyner-Kersee Invitational Friday and Saturday, April 4 and 5. The two-day meet will take place at Drake Stadium, located on the UCLA campus.
