Atawo Finishes Fourth in 200m at Florida Relays

GAINESVILLE, Fla.-- - University of California sophomore Toby Atawo was the Golden Bears' highest finisher after the first day of competition at the Florida Relays, hosted by the University of Florida in Gainesville, Fla. Several Cal athletes are competing at the elite meet.
Atawo posted a fourth-place finish in section one of the 200m in a time of 21.67. That time meets Pac-10 qualifying standards for the 200m event. He placed seventh in section two of the 100m in a season-best time of 10.73. Junior Tim Bogdanof placed fifth in section two of the 110m hurdles finals in a season-best time of 14.31. Bogdanof met NCAA regional and Pac-10 qualifying marks for the 110m hurdles at last weekend's Cal home opener meet.
Three of Cal's hurdlers from the women's team also competed today. Freshman Osarhiemen Omwanghe finished seventh in section two of the 100 hurdles in 14.52. Omwanghe met NCAA regional and Pac-10 qualifying marks for the 100 hurdles at last weekend's Cal home opener meet. Freshman Mary Meyman placed third in the 100 hurdles' third section in a time of 14.54, while junior Stephanie Cowling placed sixth in 14.97, also in section three.
Several other Cal athletes compete Saturday, as redshirt freshmen Rhuben Williams and Elzunia Lamb and true freshman Teak Wilburn compete in the invitational field events. In the running events, the Bears' women's hurdlers will compete in the shuttle relay. Williams will compete in the hammer and shot put, while Wilburn tackles the high jump. Lamb is slated to compete in the long jump.
