No. 3 Arizona State Opens Pac-10 Series With 11-4 Win Against Trojans

LOS ANGELES - Dennis Wyrick went 3-for-6 with three RBI Friday and the No. 3 Arizona State Sun Devils defeated the USC Trojans, 11-4, in game one of a Pac-10 Conference series at Dedeaux Field. The Sun Devils used a 17-hit attack as the Trojans walked 14 batters, two away from tying the school record for most walks allowed in a game.
USC (13-15, 1-3) had a 3-2 lead after three innings, but Arizona State (33-5, 2-2) pushed three runs across in the fourth, thanks to four straight walks. Brett Bordes (1-0) got the win after facing his only batter in the bottom of the fifth.
Bobby Paschal (2-4) took the loss for USC, which has lost four straight games. Paschal gave up five runs on nine hits in 3 1/3 innings, allowing five walks and striking out three.
The first four batters for ASU (Dustin Pedroia, Wyrick, Jeff Larish and Andre Ethier) went a combined 9-for-19 with six RBI.
Anthony Lunetta went 3-for-3 for the Trojans and now has a seven-game hitting streak, batting .519 (14-for-27) during that time.
