Cougar Tennis Hosts Arizona Pac-10 Schools

WASHINGTON STATE WOMEN'S TENNIS
THIS WEEK: The Washington State women's tennis team, ranked No. 45 by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association, hosts the Arizona Pacific-10 schools. WSU plays No. 46 Arizona Friday and No. 8 Arizona State Saturday.
THE SERIES: Washington State (7-8, 0-3 Pac-10) has been victorious in one of the nine matches against the Arizona Wildcats. The Cougars have not defeated Arizona State in nine all-time matches.
HOT COUGS: Washington State has won three matches against ITA ranked opponents. The Cougars have defeated No. 65 New Mexico (Feb. 15), No. 58 Boise State (Feb. 16) and No. 49 BYU (Feb. 28) this season.
UPSET SPECIAL: WSU sophomore No. 1 singles player Orsolya Sallai upset Oregon's No. 18 Daria Panova (6-3, 3-6, 6-4) March 16 in Eugene. It was Sallai's second win over a ranked singles opponent this season (also Boise State's #79 Renate Stoop Feb. 16). WSU junior Lorena Arias, playing at No. 2 singles, defeated Oregon's No. 40 Courtney Nagle (6-3, 0-6, 6-2).
NEXT WEEK: The Cougars next competition will be home matches against the Southern California Pac-10 schools. WSU takes on UCLA (April 11) and USC (April 12). Both matches start at noon at the Stadium Way Tennis Center.
