Mark Romanczuk Named Pac-10 Pitcher Of The Week

Walnut Creek, Calif. - Stanford freshman lefthanded pitcher Mark Romanczuk (Newark, DE/St. Mark's HS) has been named Pac-10 Baseball Player of the Week for the first time in his career. Romanczuk tossed his first career complete game, a five-hitter with five strikeouts, in the deciding game of a three-game series to win at Arizona State on March 24 and earn the honor for the week of play ending on Sunday, March 30.
On the season, Romanczuk (6-0, 4.42, 2 SV, 36.2 IP, 31 SO) co-leads the Pac-10 with six victories.
The Pac-10 Player of the Week award was the 62nd time a Stanford player has been selected Pac-10 Pitcher of the Week and the second time a Cardinal has won the award in 2003. John Hudgins was also selected on February 11.
No. 4 Stanford (18-10, 4-2) currently is tied for first-place in the Pac-10 and next visits Washington State (9-19, 1-2 Pac-10) for a three-game conference series this Friday-Sunday, April 4-6 (3 pm, 12 pm, 11 am, PT).
