Cardinal Women Tied For Eighth At ASU/PING Invite

Tempe, Arizona - The Stanford women's golf team shot a 14-over par 302 on the first day of competition at the ASU/PING Invitational at the Karsten Golf Course in Tempe, Arizona to tie for eighth overall. UCLA took the early lead posting a round of six-under par 282. Rounding out the top five are Texas (285), California (288), Arizona (294), USC (296) and New Mexico (296).
Junior Kim Kouwabunpat fired a one-under par 71 today and is tied for fifth on the individual leaderboard for the Cardinal. Junior Angela Rho shot a 76 and is tied for 42nd while teammate Kelly Husted posted a 77 and is tied for 52nd. Senior Kim Rowton is a stroke back with a 78 and is tied for 64th overall. Wendra Liang and Stephanie Lue are tied for 71st after shooting 80 this afternoon.
UCLA's Charlotte Mayorkas sits atop the leaderboard after carding a six-under 66 in the first round. Texas' Jessica Reese is two strokes back at four-under 68. Louise Friberg, from Washington along with California's Sarah Huarte are tied for third with a two-under 70. Five players are tied for fifth, including Stanford's Kouwabunpat.
Action continues tomorrow at the Karsten Golf Course with tee times beginning at 8 a.m.
