Home at last
After 10 consecutive weeks on the road, Oregon will try and play its first games at Howe Field this week. First off, the Ducks are scheduled to host Portland State Wednesday at 2 p.m. in a doubleheader that had to be rescheduled because of weather. Oregon returns to Pac-10 action this weekend, hosting No. 3 Washington Friday at 2 p.m. before entertaining No. 2 UCLA Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
ESPN.COM/USA SOFTBALL COLLEGIATE TOP 25 POLL
The Amateur Softball Association (ASA) released the first-ever ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 poll on Feb. 25. Oregon debuted at No. 22. This week Oregon is at No. 20 as all eight Pac-10 teams are ranked, including No. 1 Arizona, No. 2 UCLA and No. 3 Washington.
NFCA TOP 25
Oregon broke into the NFCA Top 25 at No. 25 on Jan. 29. This week, the Ducks are at No. 22. Oregon had not been ranked in the NFCA Poll since March 8, 2001. Seven of eight Pac-10 teams are ranked this week as Oregon State fell out of the poll after last weekend.
LAST WEEKEND VS. STANFORD AND CALIFORNIA
Oregon snapped a three-game conference losing skid, defeating No. 12 Stanford, 3-2, in 10 innings last Friday. Oregon freshman pitcher Amy Harris went eight innings before senior Andrea Vidlund came in to secure the win. The two combined for eight strikeouts and held the Cardinal scoreless through the final eight innings. Senior Alyssa Laux's 10th-inning RBI single and Jenn Poore's two-run home run secured the win for Oregon. California defeated Oregon 4-0 Saturday and 4-1 Sunday. Freshman Beth Boskovich drove in the Ducks' lone run on Sunday with an RBI single to left field.
SERIES VS. PORTLAND STATE
Oregon is 81-55 all-time vs. the Vikings.
SERIES VS. WASHINGTON
The Huskies own a 29-7 advantage in the series, including nine consecutive wins against the Ducks. Oregon's last win was a 4-3 win in 1999.
SERIES VS. UCLA
UCLA is 51-7 all-time versus Oregon. The Ducks' last victory over UCLA was a 5-2 victory in Los Angeles in 1999. Oregon's last home win was a 3-1 victory in 1998.
