Arizona Spring Football Notes
April 11, 2003
TUCSON, Ariz. - The University of Arizona football team has passed the mid-way point in this year's edition of spring football drills, and the Wildcats are set to showcase their high-powered offense and new defensive scheme in the annual Spring Game on Saturday, April 12, at 1 p.m.
The Wildcats will take to Arizona Stadium for the Spring Game, and the players will participate in Spring Game activities, which include a youth skills challenge and an autograph session. The youth skills challenge is set to begin at 11:15 a.m., and the players will be available to sign autographs during that period.
The team will begin its warm-up session at 12:30 p.m., with the scrimmage to follow at 1 p.m. Head coach John Mackovic said that the game will take on the characteristics of a practice/scrimmage session.
Mackovic and the Arizona assistant coaches have put the Wildcats through several rigorous, fast-paced practices leading up to the Spring Game. The Wildcats have worked in several seven-on-seven and full-line passing and rushing sessions, as both the offensive and defensive units continue to install new plays in preparation for Arizona's 2003 season opener.
Following the game, Arizona will have six practice sessions remaining on the spring schedule. UA is allowed 15 spring practices under NCAA guidelines and will conclude sessions with the team's final practice on Thursday, April 24.
The Wildcats will return to UA's practice field on Tuesday, April 15, at 4:30 p.m.
All spring practices are open to the public. Most are scheduled on the practice facility at North Campbell Avenue and Enke Drive, across from McKale Center, but the Spring Game and some other sessions will be held in Arizona Stadium.
