Arizona's Monica Bisordi qualifies for NCAA Championships

Tucson, Ariz. (April 14) - Arizona sophomore Monica Bisordi has earned an individual berth to compete as an all-arounder in the NCAA Championships in Lincoln, Neb., the NCAA gymnastics committee announced Monday.
Bisordi enters the national championship as the No. 7 seed in the all-around competition and will rotate with Auburn University in the afternoon session of the NCAA Championships on Thursday, April 24.
Bisordi, a San Mateo, Calif. native, qualifies for NCAA Championship competition for the first time as an individual competitor after finishing fifth in the all-around competition with a score of 39.300 at the South Central Regional Championships. In last season's 2002 NCAA Championships in Tuscaloosa, Ala., Bisordi topped six gymnasts in the all-around competition, finishing with an all-around score of 38.950.
So far this season, Bisordi has earned 47 top-five individual event finishes, including six all-around titles, six beam titles, three floor titles and two beam titles. In a meet against Oklahoma (3/14) earlier this season, Bisordi posted a career-high score of 39.750 in the all-around that stands as the second-best all-around mark in school history.
The National Collegiate Women's Gymnastics Championships consist of 12 teams and 12 all-around competitors (who are not on a qualifying team) and event specialists. The top two teams and the top two all-around competitors from each regional received automatic berths to the national championship.
