April 15, 2003
WALNUT CREEK, Calif. - For the second time this season, Arizona State freshman hurler Desiree Serrano has been named the Pac-10 Softball Pitcher of the Week for April 7-April 14, Commissioner Tom Hansen announced Tuesday. Serrano also earned the award back on February 18th.
Serrano, from Colton, Calif., picked up her Pac-10-leading sixth save of the year (tied for second all-time in the Pac-10 for a single-season) against No. 6 California and pitched a complete game three-hitter against No. 16 Stanford to notch her 17th win of the year. Overall, she was 1-0 for the weekend on 10 innings pitched, with a save, allowing seven hits and one run with seven strikeouts.
It is the second honor for Serrano this year and the 39th all-time weekly honor for the Sun Devils.
