A Battle For State Bragging Rights

It will be an all-Oregon affair for the Ducks this week as Oregon swept a doubleheader from Portland State Wednesday and return to Eugene and Pac-10 play this weekend, hosting Oregon State (25-21, 1-9) Friday and Saturday at 2 p.m.

ESPN.COM/USA SOFTBALL COLLEGIATE TOP 25 POLL
The Amateur Softball Association (ASA) released the first-ever ESPN.com/USA Softball Collegiate Top 25 poll on Feb. 25. Oregon debuted at No. 22. This week Oregon is at No. 20 as all eight Pac-10 teams are ranked, including No. 1 Arizona, No. 2 UCLA and No. 3 Washington.

NFCA TOP 25
Oregon broke into the NFCA Top 25 at No. 25 on Jan. 29. This week, the Ducks are at No. 20. Oregon had not been ranked in the NFCA Poll since March 8, 2001. Seven of eight Pac-10 teams are ranked this week as Oregon State fell out of the poll two weeks ago.

ANDREA VIDLUND - PAC-10 PLAYER OF THE WEEK (APRIL 7-13)
Oregon senior Andrea Vidlund earned her first conference player of the week honor after going 7-for-14 with five home runs, eight RBI and eight runs scored in five games last week. The senior from Fair Oaks, Calif., also picked up a win against Portland State and a save in the win over UCLA.

WHAT'S ALREADY HAPPENED THIS WEEK
Oregon dominated a doubleheader with Porltand State Wednesday, defeating the Vikings, 4-0 and 5-0. The Ducks had 19 hits total while limiting Portland State to just six hits over the two games. Andrea Vidlund was 3-for-4 in the first game and in the second game, senior Alyssa Laux was 3-for-4 with a career-best four RBI while Lynsey Haij scored three of Oregon's five runs. Oregon freshman pitcher Amy Harris picked up both wins.

RECAPPING LAST WEEK
The Ducks finished last week 3-2, sweeping Portland State in a doubleheader last weekend and defeating No. 2 UCLA, 5-4, Saturday. In game one vs. Portland State, junior catcher Jenn Poore was 3-for-3 with a two-run home run and senior Andrea Vidlund hit her first home run of the week to lead the Ducks to a 7-2 win. Vidlund picked up the win to improve her pitching record to 4-1 in the second game. In Oregon's win over UCLA, Vidlund was 1-for-2 with a home run and also picked up her fifth save of the season. Senior Alyssa Laux hit her second home run of the season -- a three-run shot to put Oregon up 3-0. On Sunday, UCLA defeated the Ducks, 9-3, but Vidlund added her fourth and fifth home runs of the week.
