Aguilera Sets School Record in 5,000 Meter Event at Mt. SAC Relays

TEMPE, Ariz. - Senior Lisa Aguilera (Peroria, Ariz.), a member of the Arizona State track and field team, competed in the women's 5,000 meter Invitational at the Mt. SAC Relays Thursday evening and recorded a school record time in the event while placing 16th in the race. Amanda Lyon (Fr., Phoenix, Ariz.) also competed in the 5,000m open division race, finishing in 16th as well.

Aguilera clocked a 15:53.28 to improve her personal best time by nearly two seconds to rewrite the record books at ASU in the event. The record was held by former Sun Devil standout Kelly MacDonald who established the mark in 2000 at the same event. Lyon, running in the 5,000m event for the first time this year, turned in a 16:51.30 to also place 16th.

Action at the Mt. SAC Relays and the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational continues Friday and Saturday.
