Arizona Spring Football Notes - Day 13
April 21, 2003
TUCSON, Ariz. - Spring Football Notes...
... The University of Arizona football team returned to the practice facility Monday afternoon for its 13th spring practice session after having two days off from practice... Head coach John Mackovic and the Arizona assistant coaches put the Wildcats through a rigorous, fast-paced practice, as the players worked out in full pads for two hours...
... The Wildcats did some situational work with full lines for the majority of today's session. 'We continued to work on special situations. It has been a lot of fun. The defense had the go of it today. We also spent a considerable amount of time on scoring zone situations,' Mackovic said...
... Junior linebacker Pat Howard had right shoulder surgery on Thursday. 'Pat Howard's surgery went well. He should have a nice recovery. He may not be ready to go right at the beginning of the fall, but he will be ready to go for the first game,' Mackovic said.
... Junior quarterback John Rattay did not practice Monday, while sophomore Nic Costa returned to the rotation after missing most of Friday's scrimmage with a finger injury. 'John twisted his leg a bit during the scrimmage last Friday, so his knee is a little sore. Nic (Costa) took all of his repetitions today, but his finger is still swollen and a little sore,' Mackovic explained.
... Arizona has two practices remaining on the spring football schedule... The Wildcats are scheduled to work out on Tuesday, April 22, at 4:30 p.m., and the team will hold its final practice session on Thursday, April 24, at 6:30 p.m.
